Women’s Health Symposium

“The circles of women around us weave invisible nets of love that carry us when we are weak, and sing with us when we are strong.” Sark

In September of 2019, The Health Committee of AUF, Inc. will host its first Women’s Health Symposium

“Body, Mind and Spirit”

September 26 – 30, 2019
Travel Extension to Montanita September 30 – October 2

Health professionals from the United States will partner with health professionals from Guayaquil, Ecuador to educate and inspire women in the Guasmo Sur community to seek solutions to the health issues that they face.

A group of 50-75 women from 15 to 80 plus will gather for three days to explore health issues that affect the different stages of women’s lives.  There will be designated time for learning and time for reflection and community building.

Body:  Topics like nutrition, sexuality and disease will be the focus of this part of the symposium.

Mind:  Professionals will address psychological difficulties that women face at different ages.  Mindfulness training, yoga and relaxation techniques will be shared to help women find better mental health and wellness with practices that can be practiced alone or in community with other women.

Spirit:  The weekend will end by drawing on the mystical presence of the “Spirit” in the lives of all women to inspire a sense of sisterhood that will enhance the overall health of individual women as well as the community.
